We offer both tackle and Tag rugby league:

  • Tackle footy for boys and girls (under 6s through to under 16s).
  • League Tag (non-tackle) is on offer for Girls only (under 8s through to under 16s).
  • In 2026, we will also be offering Girls Tackle competition in U12’s, U14s and U16’s – stay tuned to Facebook for more info on this.
  • Jerseys (Coaches have these for game days) – these are Club property and will be returned at the end of the season as a full team “Kit”.

  • Sharks playing shorts and socks (to be purchased).

  • Mouthguards & Headgear are optional, Boots compulsory.

From the canteen at Ron Costello oval on the days/times we advertise on social media. Anticipated first dates for 2026 will be March 2026.

Yes! We sell hoodies, backpacks, caps, training shirts etc

You play in the age you are turning this year. So someone turning 9 in 2026 plays in under 9s. The minimum age for footy (under 6s) is 4 turning 5 this year. Playing up an Age group is possible however we do not advise it and need parents to complete and sign a Consent form on these special occasions. If there is no age group available to play in (eg; you are turning 11 but there is no under 11 Tag team at the Sharks), you default go up and play in the next available team which would be under 12 Tag.

Our main precinct is at Ron Costello oval. You can enter via the bottom of Mary Street or Wentworth Street, Shellharbour. This is where the canteen and gear sheds are, as well as our mini field (Ben Fretus oval).

Other FAQs

Group 7 will not be reviewing or approving any transfers or clearances until 1 February 2026. Please note clearances can take up to 3-4 weeks to complete as many parties/stages are involved.

Shellharbour Sharks JRLC are part of Group 7 South Coast Rugby League. We play against teams located all up and down the coast. For ages 6-12, teams range from Warilla in the north to Milton/Ulladulla in the south. Generally the Draw is 1 home game, 1 away on alternate weeks and you only travel to other Clubs once. This is subject to change however. For ages 13+ Group 7 & Illawarra play together in a Merged competition so travel up past North Wollongong more regularly than the younger kids. The Draw is released by Group 7 weekly until Round 5 when regrading occurs. After this, a full season Draw is released by Group 7. We post the Draw to Facebook.

Depending on what it is – you can contact your Coach, your Team’s Manager, or the Club’s Committee via private message on our socials, or by emailing shellharboursharksjuniors@hotmail.com

We will only cancel training or games when Council close grounds. We will advise of any cancellations via social media.

We do. This is called ‘Little League Stars’ its a NRL approved program. We do not begin to plan for or advertise registrations for this program until after the U6-U16 kids are sorted and have begun playing so anticipate info on the Little League Stars program to be posted on our socials from mid April 2026. LLS would run from late May 2026 for 8-10 weeks on Friday afternoons 4-5pm (if we can secure Coaches to run it again this year).

In 2022, NSWRL introduced a new compulsory ‘Tackle Ready’ program across the State modelled off previous programs conducted in Queensland. It means ALL under 6 players play TAG ONLY for the season, and all u7s do also for the first six weeks of the season. Tag belts are provided for the kids. More information on the Player Development Framework can be found online here.
