Ground Manager Information
Ground Managers are a vital role – as with everything in junior rugby league, its also a volunteer role. Teams cannot and should not be taking the field without a Ground Manager present – this is stipulated in the NSWRL On Field Policy.
The Ground Manager role is responsible for ensuring the game runs on time, there are scorers from each team at the sideline (at the designated table), that no unauthorised people enter the field of play, and that everyone is behaved and respectful at all times.
The Ground Manager wears a designated purple vest when acting in the role on game days and should be an exemplary role model of good behaviour for our kids & the Club.
1. registration
All volunteers across our club should be registered on the MySideline portal (www.playrugbyleague.com) and have a Working with Children Check (WWCC).
To register yourself as a volunteer, go to the website linked above, and select registration type as “Volunteer” then follow the prompts. Estimated completion time 2-5 mins.
2. Accreditation
Once registered, you should learn what the role entails. We ask you please complete this online learning module – Estimated completion time 15 mins.
The Community Club Ground Manager Induction training is a quick online course designed to give you a head start on your appointment as a Ground Manager. It contains specific rugby league content including scenarios, training, tips and education of the platforms you have access to. Complete online here: NRL Learning Centre – Ground Manager Induction – Online Course
3. Resources & Support
We have laminated copies of the Ground Manager Checklist at each of our 3 home fields for assistance/guidance on game days. There are also a bunch of resources linked on our website for you to access on your phone if you need.
Committee members are happy to induct you in person on game days if you would like in addition to the above online course – sometimes its more helpful to have real-life experience and guidance. Please reach out to our committee via email or on socials to arrange this.
